Jewish giving has been important to Arthur and Barbara Weinrach for more than 40 years and they continue their active involvement in the Jewish community. As a result, they've set up a philanthropic fund, known as the Barbara and Arthur Weinrach Family Fund. The fund allows them to give with ease, vary their annual giving and benefit the organizations they care about most.
Originally from Philadelphia, Art started his career in Allentown with Lutron and then moved into telecommunications. He is now retired. Barbara taught for many years in the schools and still continues her thriving career teaching piano in their home. They have both been active in Jewish organizations, including Congregation Sons of Israel, the Jewish Day School and Jewish Family Service. Art is on the Lehigh Valley Jewish Foundation Committee.
Art and Barbara started their philanthropic fund with a small amount and increased it as they were able to do so. Each year, they designate the beneficiaries of the funds currently available. They choose organizations with which they've been involved and that have been there for them.
Art says they especially like the flexibility that the fund allows. In addition to their fund, Art and Barbara make a contribution each year to the Federation's Annual Campaign for Jewish Needs. With the annual campaign, the goal is to give at least as much or more than in previous years. But sometimes Art and Barbara want to increase their gift on a one-time basis only. So, in that case, they simply add the increase to their philanthropic fund.
