Perpetuating Your Annual Campaign Gift

If you have been a lifelong supporter of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley annual campaign, you can, through either an outright or planned gift, create a permanent endowment fund that will continue your annual gift forever. A Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment (PACE), endowed Lion of Judah (LOJE) or endowed Pomegranate (POME) can be created by an outright gift, or a bequest in your will. Any of these endowment accounts can be funded through appreciated stock, cash, a life insurance policy, a 401K or Investment Retirement Account, or life income plan such as a charitable remainder trust or charitable gift annuity. The appropriate method of funding can best be determined after reviewing your financial and tax objectives. Among the ways to endow your campaign gift are:

Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment

A Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment Fund (PACE) is a permanent endowment fund set up to make a perpetual annual gift to Federation's Annual Campaign. Once the PACE fund is established, it will make an annual distribution of 4.6% of the fund value to the Federation's Annual Campaign in your name or the name of a loved one. The amount needed to create a PACE fund can be calculated by multiplying your current Annual Campaign gift by 22.

PACE funds give added vitality to the annual campaign and help us to continue to meet the needs of our local and global community year after year.

Lion of Judah Endowment

A woman currently making a gift of $5,000 or more to the Annual Campaign of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley qualifies as a Lion of Judah. A special way to perpetuate this annual gift is with a Lion of Judah Endowment Fund (LOJE) by establishing a fund in the amount of $100,000 or more in your name with the Federation. Through simple, innovative steps, an endowed gift is within the reach of any Lion of Judah, regardless of her age or giving level and it can be done during or after your lifetime. Establishing a LOJE is a powerful statement of your commitment to tzedakah, and provides a legacy to your family and the community. A LOJE signifies to the Jewish world your commitment to the continuation of Jewish life. The Federation takes the following steps to signify that a woman has established a LOJE:

  • The Or L'Atid flame is added to her Lion of Judah pin
  • She becomes a member of the Lehigh Valley Jewish Foundation's Heritage Society
  • She is recognized by including her name on a beautiful piece of art housed at the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley
  • Her name is added to the national Honor Rolls

A LOJE can be created by an outright gift, or a bequest in your will, or can be funded through a life insurance policy, retirement asset, or life income plan such as a charitable remainder trust or charitable gift annuity. The appropriate method of funding can best be determined after reviewing your financial and tax objectives.

Pomegranate Endowment

Women who give to the Annual Campaign at the Pomegranate level ($1,800–$4,999) can now permanently endow her gift by establishing a Pomegranate Endowment Fund (POME) of at least $36,000 in her name. This can be done during or after her lifetime.

Establishing a POME is a wonderful demonstration of commitment to the Lehigh Valley Jewish community, where the national Pomegranate pin program was born. To signify that a woman has established a POME:

  • She receives a new Pomegranate pin featuring a beautiful combination of brushed silver and gold
  • She will be recognized as an endowed Pomegranate in our local donor Honor Rolls
